The LGBT National Help Center is growing! We are a 28 year old non-profit that operates 10 programs serving the LGBTQ+ community. Most notably, our programs include the LGBT National Hotline, the LGBT National Coming Out Support Hotline and others.  We provide peer-support to those people struggling with issues related to sexual orientation and/or gender identity/expression.

Current Open Position:

Remote Part-Time Volunteer Coordinator / Evening Supervisor

 

THE JOB:  This position is a remote, part-time, 25 hour per-week opportunity, paying $25 per hour.  The required hours of the job are normally Monday thru Friday from 3pm to 8pm, pacific time (6pm to 11pm, eastern time).  Ability to attend 1-hour virtual staff meetings during daytime hours will offset evening hours twice a week.  This position interacts with our volunteers on a regular basis, to ensure volunteer satisfaction and engagement.  Specifically, this position will ensure that volunteers are adhering to their agreed upon schedule, help to make changes to that schedule when necessary, and conducting check-ins with volunteers both on a regular basis, and when indicated by specific shift call logs.  In addition, this position will act as the supervisor during the last three hours of your shift, helping volunteers or referring specific technical concerns to others who can help.  Important:  This job does NOT require you to answer hotline phone calls or chats yourself.
 
YOU:  Extensive knowledge and demonstrated commitment to the LGBTQ+ community.  Strong communication skills, with prior experience working with volunteers, preferably in a peer-support hotline setting.  Ability to interface with many volunteers, personalities and individual needs.  Requires ability to communicate these needs to staff, as well as play a role in creating policies to meet those needs.  Detailed record-keeping skills required.  This position will report to the President of the organization, as well as work closely with the Executive Director.
