The LGBT National Help Center is growing! We are a 29 year old non-profit that operates 10 programs serving the LGBTQ+ community. Most notably, our programs include the LGBT National Hotline, the LGBT National Coming Out Support Hotline and others.  We provide peer-support to those people struggling with issues related to sexual orientation and/or gender identity/expression.

Current Open Position:

Remote Part-Time Resource Assistant

 

THE JOB:  
 

This position is a remote, part-time, 25 hour per-week opportunity, paying $20 per hour.  The required hours of the job are normally Monday thru Friday from 10 am - 3 pm, pacific time (1pm to 6pm, eastern time).  Ability to attend 1-hour virtual staff meetings during daytime hours will offset evening hours once a week.

 

The LGBT National Help Center maintains the largest LGBTQ+ resource database in the world with community resources such as support groups, affirming medical care, affirming lawyers, LGBTQ+ run business, and more. These community resources can be vital for callers to our support hotlines to connect locally with support on their journey forward. Resources are also available for the public to search on their own to continue those connections, so it is critical that the resources listed are current and up to date. 

This position’s main goal is to maintain current resources in our national database; to update, correct and expand the information listed for each listing.  With 19,000 resources while we require accuracy, we also need someone who is confident they can work efficiently and quickly. Time permitting, additionally will work with staff to expand the database in adding new listings.

This position is a mix of internet detective work and direct email and phone conversations with organizations and programs throughout the country to maintain the database.  Speed and accuracy will be extremely important in this position.  This position will work with other staff members throughout the week but will chiefly be working independently.

 
YOU:

Our database is build specifically for our programming, and you will be trained on the use of the database.  You will be in contact with the office staff daily, and be making many out going calls to organizations for their information.  Having an interest in the many aspects of the LGBTQ+ community can be very helpful in this position.  

 

Required: 

-knowledge of the LGBTQ+ community, labels and terminology used

-basic commuter knowledge

-confident in typing ability

-a working desktop or laptop with stable high speed internet access

-comfortable making out going calls

-ability to prioritize and organize on-going projects  

-detailed oriented and understand the need for accuracy

-ability to work along with others and on your own
