For nearly 30 years the LGBT National Help Center has been offering support and care for the LGBTQ+ community.
And that isn't changing, and we're not going anywhere.
Sadly it’s always been hard for many in our community, and the recent closure of the LGBTQ+ youth specific support on 988 has only caused more harm. There has also been a lot of mis-information through the internet on where continued support is coming from. I wanted to make it clear that the LGBT National Help Center, which is located in the United States isn’t going anywhere.
We answer calls for both the United States and Canada, and we even have Canadian volunteers on the lines, but we are an United States based non-profit. We don’t receive any federal funding, and never have. It may mean that we haven’t had the access to larger funding, but it has allowed us to be able to provide the services we have REGARDLESS of who is in office. We are mainly funded by individuals from within the community and our allies who understand how important it is that everyone in the LGBTQ+ community has a safe space to find support, care, and respect.
It’s hard times right now, and that’s unfair for everyone, but it’s so important to remember that we’re in this together. Should you want to help us in our mission to ensure that everyone has that safe space, you can donate right here.
And know that our services are not going away and as our community is affected by the loss of 988, we’re working as hard as we can to staff up as many highly trained LGBTQ+ support volunteers to be on the lines to offer that support.
Remember, you are valid, valued, and loved.
