Giving Tuesday

Tuesday November 29th is GivingTuesday. Created in 2012, it's grown to become a global movement to give a louder voice to celebrate generosity and provide assistance to organizations and charities that provide aid and support to their communities.

This isn't to say that you can't provide support to your favorite charities anytime of the year, but at the end of the year it can often help the most. You may see a lot of post on social media or get an email blast. If you can support your favorite charities, please do so! Often times it's the smaller organizations or the ones that can't afford to do a large media campaign are the ones who could use your support the most. Think about the community you want to aid, who's supporting it? Who's actively helping? It can take a little research, can check out sites like GuideStar to learn more about an organization if it's a non-profit.

If you're thinking of a way to support the LGBTQIA+ community you might consider supporting our work. If you're here on our website, you can check out the many different programs we run. We run multiple national hotlines, providing services for both the US and Canada, online chat for those who might not feel safe on the phone, and moderated youth chatrooms. We also maintain the largest LGBTQIA+ database in the country to provide both our peer support volunteers access to local resources to aid in the journeys of our callers, but it's also available to the public at LGBTNearMe.org .

You can donate directly here.

We understand that times are tough and you might not be able to afford to donate, and that's real. But if you could let others know about the work we do, you are still helping immensely. Getting the word out to those who might not feel they have anyone to talk to might never to a search to seek us out on their own, so being ambassadors for us is a huge help too!
